Lend a Helping Hand

Geri Caron

Geri Caron, a mother and grandmother who adores her family, was diagnosed with primary peritoneal carcinoma on August 2nd 2008. She is 61 years young and was fighting for her life. Geri's major surgery on February 16th, 2009 was a success at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, IL.  During the surgery, they removed her omentum, gallbladder, appendix, and the tumors off of the peritoneal and bathed her abdomen with chemo heated to 106 degrees. The outcome was termed R0, meaning no visible cancer remaining. She received a few more rounds of chemo to ensure that any remaining cancer cells are killed. Despite having full medical insurance, the 'out of pocket' costs accumulated quickly.

Progress Update: Dr. Brown told Geri to enjoy her life...she is cancer free. No matter how many times her family hears the good news, it never seems to be any less wonderful!
